The Build-a-Bear Huggable Heroes program is an amazing opportunity! I was fortunate enough to be recognized as a Huggable Hero in 2006 and it was a phenomenal experience.

The Build-a-Bear Huggable Heroes program is an amazing opportunity! I was fortunate enough to be recognized as a Huggable Hero in 2006 and it was a phenomenal experience.
I highly encourage you to apply for this program. Build-a-Bear recognizes 10 Huggable Heroes: each one will receive a $7500 educational scholarship and $2500 to be donated to a charity of their choice; they also will receive a trip for themselves and one parent/legal guardian to St. Louis. The Program is open to individuals ages eight to 18, who provide extraordinary service in their communities or around the world and are residents of the U.S., Puerto Rico, or Canada. We had our December writing workshop last night, Thursday the 8th. It was great working one on one with the students that attended to help them fine tune their scholarship essays! Our next writing workshop will take place in February and the exact date will be announced on the website in January.

This was a busy week! I had the opportunity to team up with Scholarships Canada to present two webinars on how to craft a memorable scholarship essay. It was a great experience and I hope everyone who attended the sessions found them helpful!
On Wednesday, we traveled to Chilliwack to present the UYF Scholarship Seminar at GW Graham School. It was our first time at GW Graham and we really enjoyed the experience. Special thanks to the staff for coordinating the evening and to all of the parents and students who came out!

I am excited to be working with the team at ScholarshipsCanada.com to present a webinar on How to Craft a Memorable Scholarship Essay. I will cover the importance of the scholarship essay, discuss writing strategies with examples and break down the key elements of a strong essay. I have designed this session specifically for their webinar and I am looking forward to presenting it!

We started off the day with a morning presentation at Sentinel Secondary in West Vancouver. We shared the UYF Scholarship Seminar with the grade 11 students and focused on some early planning strategies for them!

We had a fantastic seminar at Rockridge Secondary in West Vancouver last night! Thank you Rockridge for hosting us again and to all of the students and parents who attended. The school also raised enough from tonight to fund several Rockridge Scholarships for their grade 12 students!

October is a big month for scholarships! The Loran Awards are due on October 19th (for sponsored applications) and October 26th (for direct pool applications) and the TD Scholarships for Community Leadership are due on October 31st. No time to delay: get working on those applications!

OnlineColleges.org has launched their "Support a Student Scholarship for Single Parents." This $10,000 scholarship is available to a single parent who is attending an accredited online post-secondary institution and is receiving some type of financial aid. The deadline is November 1st, 2011.
